The Old City of Be'er Sheva was planned and built during the Ottoman rule as a square grid A comprehensive documentation file for Mordei HaGetaot Street, one of the central streets in the Old City, was commissioned by the Be'er Sheva Municipality as part of a larger project to document the entire historic city.

The documentation included mapping  of the buildings during various historical stages, a vegetation survey, and photographic documentation of the historic structures. By comparing historical documents—including plans, aerial photographs, and master plans—the research traces the historical development of the street.
