Arab, Bedouin, and Druze Settlements
A large-scale survey commissioned by the Society for Preservation of Israel Heritage Sites , covering all historic sites in approximately 40 Arab, Druze, and Bedouin towns and settlements, ranging from the Negev in the south to the Carmel in the north.
The survey documented historic buildings, cultural landscapes, ancient roads, and more, the majority of which had never been formally documented or subject to architectural and statutory conservation efforts.
The workflow included in-depth archival research, field tours accompanied by researchers and local residents, and interviews with community elders or local historians. This survey is one of the first of its kind, providing a comprehensive, and often in-depth look at Arab, Bedouin, and Druze construction in the region over the last few centuries.
