Emek HaTeimanim
Emek HaTeimanim (Valley of the Yemenites) is situated in a wadi called today Nahal Ein Kerem, north of the village of Ein Kerem. Immediately after the establishment of the State of Israel, immigrants from Yemen were settled there, who engaged - like their Palestinian predecessors - in agricultural work, maintaining the stone terraces and herding sheep. On the slopes on both sides of the stream, ancient agricultural terraces have been preserved, historic stone buildings, paths and ancient stairs, as well as , old trees, water cisterns, and archaeological finds. Over recent decades, local residents built structures and expanded existing ones, without the state regulating the land status. The survey, was conducted as part of a new master plan designed to legally anchor the use and ownership of the land by local residents in a manner that would be adapted to the unique landscape heritage values.
