Mamilla Pool | Jerusalem

A planning proposal to enhance the accessibility of the historic Mamilla Pool through the use of artificial topography placed inside the pool basin, serving as a platform for video and sound displays.

The pool is a large, ancient and abandoned water reservoir surrounded by an ancient Muslim cemetery in the heart of Jerusalem. The planning proposal emphasizes the use of light, non-invasive materials within the sensitive historic site. Crucially, it preserves the seasonal winter pool, which fills once a year and creates a rare local microcosm of flora and fauna. The design is intended to serve as a framework for a site dedicated to wandering and lingering, and includes a pavilion for exhibitions and outdoor performances
