The Hasboun Compound, located in the heart of Jerusalem, is a rare remnant of a highly significant Jerusalemite building typology. The compound consists of a central courtyard and four historic structures built during various periods.

Construction in the compound began shortly before 1864 and continued until the 1930s. The most significant period, which cemented the compound's appearance and historical meaning, was the 1920s and 1930s when it was owned by Anton Hasbon, a wealthy Christian Arab born in Bethlehem. Hasbon established a cigarette factory on the site in addition to rental residential apartments.

The documentation work followed a top-down approach: moving from the general to the specific—from the historic urban context to the building façades, and finally, to the impressive construction details in the doors, windows, stonecraft , ironwork, and flooring.
